“ Not on My Watch!”

Intro: (.... To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.) Understanding the seasons we’re living in is critical to knowing what time it is on the apocalyptic time clock. It is likened to knowing what time it is during the watches of the day and night. Even in realizing the season of our personal lives. David wrote, “ So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
Being careful, observant , attentive, or aware of time means were watching and understand what is happening now and will not be forgetful to overlook or fall asleep. Many times we say, “time got away from me!”. This could be interpreted I’m running behind on some things because I........... Our calculations must be accurate in order to stay our watches to guard against the evil one and his forces, for indeed the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Let’s look at the main players in today’s text: Jesus, his disciples, the inner circle of disciples, even you and me.
The places are: the temple.... ; Garden Gethsemene.
What the main players do: fall asleep during Jesus prayer watch. (… read)
I noticed a sign in my neighborhood yesterday. Written on it was, “Neighborhood Watch . Please report all suspicious activity to the authorities.” (example)
That’s kind of what he wanted his disciples to do. Keep alert while he was praying to his father. When you’re on watch it means staying awake to make sure things are safe for yourself and others. If you hear of something or see something disagreeable, your will sound the alarm. Not on my watch or not while I’m in charge or responsible!
